The King’s Gate (Königstor) is one of the seven surviving city gates in Kaliningrad. King's Gate were built in the neo-Gothic style, which is expressed in this building most vividly. Brick was used as the material for the gate.

The author of the project was General Ernst Ludwig von Aster, however, according to an unconfirmed version, for the decoration of façades they invited architect Friedrich August Shtyuler, and bas-reliefs were created by sculptor Wilhelm Ludwig Sturmer. Royal Gate consists of a single passage which is 4.5 meters wide, and on each side of which there are former casemates. From the city side the casemates had windows and doors, and from the outside they had the oeillets. At the four corners of the high central part there are four towers. On the outer corners of the lower tier there are four towers, the same as these ones, so in total there are eight gate towers. The first tier of the gate is decorated with three portals, the second one — with three niches with the monuments of Czech King Otakar II (left), King of Prussia Frederick I (middle), and the Duke of Prussia Albrecht I (right). Above the niches there are coats of arms of the Prussian lands: Samland and Natangii.
